Corporate Social Responsibility

During early 2009, Global Image was approached by the University of the Western Cape (UWC), to assist in the sponsorship of an Internet and e-Commerce course, to be presented to third year B.Com students at the Bellville campus of the University.
As part of the sponsorship-agreement, the lecturing of the course would be undertaken by one of Global Image’s directors, at no cost to the University. The University would assist in the administration of students, provide lecturing facilities and also assist in ensuring that the course material and examination’s are at the required standard.

“This stands as a milestone for Global Image, where we are able to put something back to our country’s tertiary institutions.” says Mr. Nico Elema, current Managing Director of Global Image. “It further provides us as a business, with a meaningful opportunity to adhere to our corporate social responsibility, in assisting a previous disadvantaged university. The UWC is a quality institution, with quality students, which fits into the culture of Global Image – providing quality products and services to our clients.” Mr. Elema continues.

Acting Head Of Department (HOD) of the Information Systems department at the UWC, Prof. Louis Fourie, who initiated the agreement, commented: “For tertiary institutions, the challenges exist to present quality education in an environment where budget constraints are a reality. One can either except this budget constraint, or find a solution. Our solution was to enter into an agreement with a company like Global Image who has to expertise – I think that both parties stand to benefit from such an arrangement.”
